Overview
Relaykit sells prepaid credits that are deducted as you make API requests. Because each request immediately incurs a cost with the upstream model provider, refunds are limited to credit you have not used. This policy forms part of our Terms of Service.
What can be refunded
- Unused purchased credit from a top-up made within the last 14 days, if you request the refund within that window.
- Accidental duplicate purchases, where the same pack was bought twice in a short period and the second purchase is unused.
- Overcharges caused by a confirmed metering or billing error on our side, credited back to your balance or refunded to your payment method.
- Unused purchased credit when we close your account for convenience or discontinue the Service (see below).
What cannot be refunded
- Consumed usage. Credit already spent on requests, including requests whose output you were unhappy with, requests that hit your own client timeouts, and requests made with a key that you exposed.
- Promotional credit, which has no cash value.
- Purchases older than 14 days, except where required by law or covered by the billing-error and discontinuation sections.
- Accounts terminated for breach of the Terms or Acceptable Use Policy, fraud or abuse, where the law allows forfeiture.
- Differences caused by an announced price change, or by a model being changed or retired by its provider after you made a purchase. Your balance keeps its dollar value and can be used on other models.
How refunds are calculated
- Credits are spent in the order they were added, so spending is first deducted from your oldest balance, including any promotional credit.
- The refundable amount is the lower of (a) the unused credit remaining from the eligible purchase and (b) the amount you actually paid for it. Volume-discounted packs are refunded at the price you paid per credit, not at the face value of the credits.
- Refunds go back to the original payment method, in the original currency. We cannot refund to a different card or account. Currency conversion differences and fees charged by your bank are outside our control.
- Where the law allows, we may deduct payment processing fees that our processor does not return to us. We will tell you the exact amount before processing.
How to request a refund
- Email support@relaykit.dev from the email address on your account, with the subject "Refund request".
- Include the date, amount and transaction or order reference of the purchase, and a short reason (optional but helpful).
- We confirm eligibility and the refundable amount, usually within 3 business days. Approved refunds are removed from your balance and any remaining API keys keep working with what is left.
- Your payment processor then returns the money; this typically appears within 10 business days, depending on your bank.
Billing errors & outages
If you believe you were charged incorrectly for a request, contact us within 60 days with the request time and model from your usage log. If we confirm an error we will credit the difference. Requests that fail before generating any tokens are not charged. We do not offer service credits for downtime, because the Service has no uptime commitment, but we review significant incidents case by case.
Chargebacks & disputes
Please contact us before filing a chargeback; we can usually resolve billing questions quickly. If a chargeback is filed, we may suspend the account and its keys while the dispute is open, and we will provide the processor with the purchase record and usage logs showing how the credit was used. Fraudulent chargebacks for credit that was consumed may lead to permanent account closure. If the dispute is resolved in your favour, the disputed credit is removed from your balance.
Account closure & discontinuation
- If you close your account, you can ask for a refund of unused purchased credit within the 14-day window as described above. After closure, any remaining balance is forfeited unless the law requires otherwise.
- If we close your account for convenience (not for breach), or discontinue the Service, we will refund all unused purchased credit regardless of purchase date, after at least 30 days' notice.
Your statutory rights
Nothing in this policy limits rights you have under mandatory consumer law. If you are a consumer in the EEA or UK, you may have a 14-day right to withdraw from a digital-services purchase. When you top up and start using credit immediately, you ask us to begin performance during that period and acknowledge that the right of withdrawal does not apply to credit already consumed; unused credit remains refundable during that period under this policy.
